Peninsula Europe is a vision of the future of the landscape and climate in Europe by the American artist couple Harrison. The vision was published as a book and as a series of large format prints. DWARS ontwerp was asked to come up with a spatial solution for displaying the printed banners. The goal was a cost-effective solution that did justice to the subject.
We designed a spatial layout of concrete blocks with wooden poles between which lines have been drawn. Lines on the ground that accentuate the island shape, and lines on the poles for hanging the prints. With the help of a model, the position of the poles has been adjusted to the different lengths of the prints. An example of how big ideas can be translated into small interventions!
