LIGHT TILE 'NUDGER'

Creative solutions for public space are embedded in the DNA of DWARS ontwerp. Since our first interventions in the outdoor area of the Maritime Museum in Rotterdam, we have been working on projects that bring together technology, material, and meaning. From playground objects in the garden of Kasteel Groeneveld and temporary information beacons on the Mont des Arts in Brussels, to drinking water taps in parks and on public squares — we continuously search for smart applications in unexpected places.
What connects these projects is that they not only tell a story, but also influence behavior. In public space, people sometimes just need a subtle nudge in the right direction. Based on that idea — previously explored in the concept for the WinBin — we developed the Nudger.
The Nudger is an illuminated tile with a graphic message that literally and figuratively guides people. The tile can mark a route to a facility, but also communicate information or a targeted message. Thanks to the integrated backlit display, the content remains clearly legible both day and night.
The Nudger functions entirely off-grid: integrated solar cells charge the lighting during the day, allowing the tile to operate independently and flexibly in a wide range of situations. The Nudger combines subtle behavioral influence with sustainable, energy-neutral technology and refined integration into public space.
